Usually you seat males and females alternately around the table but it doesn't always work out that way on all tables.

Always seat very young children with their parents but older children would prefer to sit together.

Well firstly ask your friends  they may well have already used one for their functions.  If not there is a National Association of Toastmasters which you can find on www.natuk.com and they will give you details of all the toastmasters so you can choose which one you would like and contact them.   You may want to interview a few MC's and perhaps go along to see them in action at a function before you make a decision.  Always get everything you agree on in writing especially the price.

An MC or Master of Ceremonies hiring one for the day can make the event more memorable and stress free.  He will make sure the event is efficient and smooth running and will make his presence unobtrusive.

There are many advantages to using a table plan for your function.  It may seem like a problem to make one but  it will make the evening run much more smoothly if you choose to have one.  Most guests do feel much happier knowing where they will be seated and with whom.  They can put their belongings there and quite happily roam around the room.   Another  reason for using a table plan is that it makes your function a lot more co-ordinated and if you use a Master of Ceremonies MC as we call it in England he will make the guests aware of where the table plan is positioned in easy access for the guests to find.  Now instead of using pieces of paper or post -it-notes you can create your table plan lists and export them from Excel to your commercial printer to make up along with invitations and name cards.  By using Party Planner Software you can create your table plan and easily move people between tables and easily track each seating position on any table.  It features a speedy, user-friendly table-planning...

Party Planner was designed to solve the problem of keeping tabs on invitation and table plan data. Our application is designed to control all this information, providing statistics, ensuring that everyone is accounted for. The problem of having say 151 people attending your party but only 149 on the table plan disappears as data is only entered once, and there is only one list. The numbers will always add up correctly.

The ethos of this product is to save time, provide accurate information with carefully designed and visually appealing reports. We have made extra effort to make the product easy to use. No one reads a manual, so we haven’t produced one. We have produced help on each window where it is needed. We have also produced Quick Start Guides which provide key information in an accessible style that people can easily understand on 1 page. Finally we have produced interactive tutorials, much more fun than reading a manual.
